London Seminary

College Mission:

Our objective is to train men for pastoral and preaching ministry. We believe this task is of supreme importance for the spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the building of his church.

Our dedicated pastoral training course is:

  • Evangelical in its theology
  • Intellectually rigorous and challenging
  • Contemporary in outlook
  • Practically-orientated
  • Tailored specifically to the needs of those training as pastors

We believe that the best-equipped lecturers for pastors in training are men who themselves have pastoral experience. Most of the lecturers at London Seminary therefore are, or have been, pastors.

We were founded as London Theological Seminary in 1977, under the vision and leadership of Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones.

Since then, many have completed the course and are now serving as pastors, preachers and missionaries, in the UK and throughout the world.

Students are also required to complete a course in research skills and to demonstrate a working knowledge of either French, Dutch, German or Latin. The coursework phase is followed by the writing of a thesis. A maximum of six years is allowed for the completion of the whole course.

This PhD is run by the Pastors' Academy (at London Seminary) in association with Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, Grand Rapids, USA. The course consists of twelve taught modules, followed by a thesis. Students have up to six years to complete the entire course. Modules are taught by PRTS faculty, and are taken in Grand Rapids, at London Seminary, or online.
